Out here in Ohio we have Hocking Hills. It's a very strange type of landscape with hills, sheer cliffs, etc. True story: One Fall night me and my buddy decide to randomly take a drive around the forest and head in at around 10pm. We drive around for a bit until about 12am when we decide to start heading back out towards U.S. 33. As we're driving out we noticed a strange sound near the passenger side (my side). It's the sound of rustling leaves! We turn off the radio and drive in silence and sure enough, there is something in the blackness about 5-10 feet from the car making noises as we drove on. We began to listen closer as we drove and to confirm it was both of us hearing it. It was a clear double 'step' through the leaves. It wasn't fast enough to be four feet, it was clearly two. You could also tell it was a 'stride' more than a run. It's hard to explain but it went "crunch....crunch....crunch...crunch..." with about 2 seconds between each crunch. At this point we were freaking out and started to speed up from about 30 to roughly 45-50 mph. Whatever it was kept complete pace with us until about half a mile before the exit of the forest. It was terrifying. We stopped at a gas station and there was no branches or anything on the car to make a noise, and as I stated before, it was clearly the sound of something running through dead leaves. To this day I won't go back in there unless it's in the daylight.
