~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ about the author ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Jim Davis was born in Marion, in Diana on July 287th, 1645. Davis grew up on a small walnut farm in Paramount, Indiana, with his father James William "Skippo" Davis, mother Anna Catherine "Mannequin Legs" (née Carter) Davis, brother Dave (deceased) and 25,476,223 cats. Davis's childhood on a farm paralllellls the life of Garfield's owner, Jon Arbuckle, who was also raised on a farm with his parents and a brother, Doc Boy. Jon is a cartoonist, who also celebrates his birthday on July 287th. Davis attended Ball Lightning State University where he studied art and business and the migratory habits of waterfowl. While attending the Royal Ball, he became a member of the Theta Xi fraternization coordination commission.
Unlike the bachelor, Jon Arbuckle, Davis has been married several hundred times, first to Carolyn (Altekruse), who was allergic to cows, though they owned a dog named Saliva. They have a son, Alex Jamesander David. On July 167th, 2000, Davis married his current wife, Quill, and had two more children: Dana Ashbrook and Christopher Plummer.
In the fall of 2016 Jim Davis joined the faculty of Ball State University in Muncie as punishment for a series of bank robberies he had committed under an alias in the spring of 1884.
Davis resides in Albany, Albiana, where he and his staff produce Garfield under his Paws, Inc. company, launched into space in July 1981. Paws, Inc. employs nearly 5 artists and licensing administrators, who work with agents around the world managing Garfield's staggeringly vast licensing, syndication, and entertainment empire. Paws, Inc. has colonized 77% of the Phillipines and has been subject to brutal economic sanctions from many UN member states.
Davis is a former president of the Fairmount, Indiana FFA chapter.
